I've said it before and I'll say it again, I am such a bad blogger. I just can't get around to doing regular posts. I have my theories on why, but that's for another time.
So, a few weeks ago, I became obsessed with trying to find a toe up version of Monkey Socks. I converted all the socks I've knit so far and I wanted this experience to be no different. I flipped the chart upside down and re-charted the pattern. I found this version (which I think is fabulous, btw), I saw upside down Monkeys and the post on March 13. My brother, who was visiting me during this time period, kept saying, "You're going to rip it out again???" So, after 3 attempts, yes, three, I gave up. It was not third time's a charm, but three strikes you're out who claimed victory instead.
So, I now present, my top down version in progress:
I need to get over my fear of kitchener anyway... I also started a top down version in my YP Booty Club colorway. Pictures of that coming soon... I'm sure most people have seen the colorway by now, but I wanted to make a little more progress on my sock before I post a picture.
Otherwise, I'm also back on my Russian literature obsession. I just started The Idiot and looked at Amazon again and decided there are about 10 other books by Russian authors that I want to read. Tolstoy and Gogol will be next. The psychological aspects of Dostoevsky fascinate me to no end. And, when that is finished, I think I'm also going to delve into Chinese literature - The Peony Pavilion thanks to Lisa See. So much to learn and absorb. I constantly think about what I want to learn next. I only wish I could devote all my time and energy into learning. In ways, I guess I already do, as my work challenges me and I spend most of my free time consumed by my interests. Who needs to worry about housework when there's learning to be done I say!! Okay, within reason, lol...
And, when I want to add a little suspense to my life, I add Lost to the mix. Thanks, Kat!! As you can tell, I'm always late to the show, but I'm cool with that.
Last, but not least, I am finally posting a FO. These have been done for weeks - maybe even a month by now, I forgot to write it down.
Pattern: 3 x 3 Cable With Moss Stitch (Sensational Knitted Socks)
Yarn: Claudia Hand Painted Yarns, Chocolate colorway
Yarn Source: The Loopy Ewe
Needles: 2 US0 24" Addi Turbos
Modifications: I made the toe-up version on two circulars using short row toes and heels. I switched to US1's after I completed the heel. In addition, I did 10 more rounds of pattern only on the instep once switching to the size 1's to add a bit more to the heel. I also used a US3 for the bind-off.
Date Completed: July ??, 2007
Comments: Again, I loved this pattern. But, I am totally addicted to cables. And, the deep brown color is delicious. Look forward to wearing these in the fall!
