Remember a few months ago I set about getting rid of the extra stuff in my life that I decided I really don't need to hang onto? Well, I thought I had done a really good job. It seems I might need to re-think that a bit. I'm going to have to go about doing a second run of all my keepsake items, books and knitting related items. I feel pretty good about everything else (i.e. clothes, shoes, kitchen & bath stuff, etc.).
Its been bothering me again for a while now, but I took a little bit of action tonight. I went through various piles for about 2 hours. It feels pretty good. I also needed to take inventory of my knitting WIPs. Too many. Two items were frogged that I knew I was never going to get around to finishing. One I'm not totally in love with anymore and the other, I'll revisit it another time because I probably will want to make that sweater someday. I have 5 pairs of socks to finish before Summer of Socks starts. I hope I can achieve this goal. I'd also like to finish that North Sea Scarf that I started way over a year ago - maybe 2 years by now. Its over half way finished, so I want to finish it and revisit lace knitting again. If I achieve this, that will leave me with 3 WIPs: 1. CPH (I told you I was bad at KALs) 2. Olga Hat (which I am okay with holding onto until winter as its a color work project and I know I want to work on it again) 3. Wollmeise Feather & Fan Scarf (love it, so I know I'll be sneaking in time for it) - ALL of which, I know I will finish. I'll give myself a generous deadline of before the end of 2008. This summer I have to focus on the socks, because really, I have a lot of sock yarn I need to start knitting up.
Other than that, this weekend was about relaxation and maybe some reflection. I spent a lot of time reading book 2 in the Dostoevsky series and the Elizabeth I book I haven't put up under, "Caught Stealing." I have realized how much choosing my own book is important to me. Don't get me wrong, I love my book club and being exposed to other things, but I did not read my book club book this weekend. Maybe I need a break from feeling obligated to read something. I might even take the summer off from attending and just put the books in my "to read" category. Yes, indeed I may...
One of these days I'll get in gear with proper photo taking - for Ravelry and for the blog. But for now, its all about the words.
